VTARA Low Carbon Technologies(LCT) Hub – Advanced Bio Fuels & Green Hydrogen Production in Maharashtra State, India
VTARA Energy Pvt. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of VTARA Energy Group Pty Ltd, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), the premier industrial infrastructure development agency of Government of Maharashtra, to build an Industrial Low Carbon Technology (LCT) Hub in NER, Yavatmal District, and MUL, Chandrapur District, Maharashtra.
The LCT Hubs, set on 40 Hectares of land at each site (NER and MUL), will comprise among others, a proprietary integrated bio-refining technology for production of advanced bio-fuels, a 2G ethanol plant, green hydrogen production facility, an R&D centre, Labs and Training centres.
In addition, the combustible residues (lignin, bio-coal) will be used to generate all the energy needed for the Hubs, with surplus used in co-production of multiple products in a sustainable way.
At present, the feasibility & techno economic studies are completed for the LCT hubs and preliminary work has commenced in relation to site access and infrastructure development.
Stage 1 development work will commence in early 2022 – the production of Compressed Biogas (CBG) – 3×40 Metric Tonnes per day capacity and a 2×5 MW Biomass Gasification power generation units, at each of the sites (NER and MUL) – a decentralised production model, with an estimated date of Commissioning being June 2023.
The land available allows for scale up of the production facilities as require, to meet market demand.
Importantly, VTARA Energy Pvt. Ltd. has successfully obtained a Letter of Intent from Indian Oil Corporation Limited, for retailing of CBG (Compressed Bio Gas) totalling 275 tons per day under SATAT (Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation) scheme.
